VOL III - CONTRIBUTORS

COOPERATE & GRADUATE

CADET was designed to be a collaborative endeavor. While VOL I was comprised entirely of images and articles attributed to the CADET team, VOL II proudly featured the works of 10 individuals from the USMA community. VOL III blows the doors wide open with 20 contributors - highlighting grads old and new, current cadets and West Point community members - we are thrilled to have the opportunity to share their talents with you.

Here’s a look at the contributors who are helping make VOL III of CADET our best and most ambitious effort yet.

RAY DUPERE USMA 1969

contributed the poem for the “A Beautiful Canvas.”

LEE ROSS USMA 1973

is a professional aerial photographer and musician of more than 35 years, whose work is on display across the country. His “Parting Shot” closes out VOL III. You can find more of his work at rosspilot.com


RICK FRENCH USMA 1986

is a professional photographer and High School AP Photography instructor in Virginia. Rick contributed a photo to the article “Sons of Mars & Thunder.”

KATE BURGESS USMA 1995

is a professional photographer based in California. She contributed an essay on her upcoming coffee table book “Rendering Honors,” a 12-year project about The Old Guard.


AUSTIN LACHANCE USMA 2017

is a CH-47 pilot at Fort Campbell. He contributed portraits of flight school students to the “About Face” column and the write-up on the behind-the-scenes of his 2017 spirit video “Sing Second.”

RILEY KENNEDY USMA 2010

is an Army officer and founder of Right & Up, an online guide for exploring military towms. She contributed an article covering what to eat, where to live, and things to do at three major Army installations.


CHRIS HUME USMA 2003

is an amatur aerial drone pilot and contributed the photo for “Protectors of the Free”

DANIEL TRUSILLO USMA 2003

contributed the poem for the USMA 2003 tribute. 



SCOTTY AUTIN USMA 2002

 is Deputy Director and Chief of Staff for the US Army Corps of Engineers in the greater Los Angeles area, and the Chief Operations Officer for Veterans in Media & Entertainment. He is a West Point Antiques and Collectables enthusiast and contributed a write-up on the origins of The Pointer Magazine.

AMANDA LIN USMA 2020

is a USMA cadet. She contributed the behind-the-scenes photos featured in the article “Sing Second.”

ROB C. WRIGHT USMA 2014

is the co-creator of @AsForFootball, an Army Football blog and podcast. He co-wrote the article “Sons of Mars & Thunder.” 

JOHN SZOTT III USMA 2014

is the co-creator of @AsForFootball, an Army Football blog and podcast. He co-wrote the article “Sons of Mars & Thunder.” 


CLAIRE GIBSON

is the author of the novel “Beyond the Point” debuting in April 2019. Claire contributed a book excerpt from the novel and a Q&A.

DUSTIN SATLOFF

is a professional photographer in New York. He contributed photos for the article “Sons of Mars & Thunder.”


is the creator of Crypto Cartel, a table-top card game.

TOM LE USMA 2016

is an active duty Army officer in the West Point Admissions office. He is the creator of  the Long Gray Lessons Vlog and Podcast.

are the parents of Tom Surdyke (‘19). They contributed a story from Tom’s Cadet Basic Training and his tragic passing.


MARK CARRUTHERS

is a New York-based photographer, and contributed photography for the article “Sons of Mars & Thunder.”

EXCAVATION PICTURES

is the creator of Citizen Skyland, a graphic novel about a West Point graduate who lives in NYC and is hired as a private security for her drone skills.
