PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
MAD MAGAZINE this weekend I will take part in a workshop with legendary Mad Magazine Illustrator Tom Richmond. Back in 2001, AS A COW AT WEST POINT, I started learning to draw caricatures from Tom’s work. Now I will get a chance to learn FROM HIM in person. I am stoked.
THE DESIGN OF THINGS
THE DESIGN OF APPRECIATION one of the more impressive things over the past year has been AOG’s On This Day effort. The massive research project was headed by JENNIFER MINUS. And I just want to take a moment to show mu appreciation for her effort - Jennifer, a sincere thank you from us. You’ve made a difference. We’ve never felt more connected to the Long Gray Line. These daily reminders of our history, heritage and tradition fuel our curiosity and connection. At the center of it all is a heartfelt human touch.
FOR EVERY HEART IN GRAY
RING THINGS who doesn’t love a good Long Gray Line Ring story. Here’s a GOOD ONE and HERE’S ANOTHER GOOD ONE. Enjoy!

WHAT I AM READING
TO THE COLORS is a book of West Point poetry from USMA 1967 graduates Dennis Coates and Mark Hamilton. This book is actually quite a rare find. I uncovered a copy at the West Point Spouses Gift Shop I had the chance to meet and talk with Mark at our annual Army Football Golf Weekend.
BLEED A WHILE is a crash course on the art of bleeding, getting back up and “fighting some more”. Written by USMA 2015 grad, former Army Football player, and current Director of Player Development for Army Football, Lawrence Scott. Get yours here. I also met and talked with Lawrence at the Army Football Golf Outing.
SHOW YOUR WORK is the second offering from AUSTIN KLEON. The books deals with sharing your work and getting discovered. This weekly digest is the result of said book.
